2 Days Kibale chimpanzee trekking experience
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park (6-7 hours’ drive) – Bigodi nature walk
You will have breakfast early and then drive to Kibale forest national park. It’s a 6-7 hours’ drive with en-route lunch. Upon arrival, connect to Bigodi swamp for a nature walk to spot some of the birds in the swamp. Some of the bird species such as the Papyrus Gonolek, Waxbills, Parrots, Cuckoos, Weavers, Hornbills, Kingfishers and many others. Also spot some of the forest primates such as the black and white Colobus monkeys, Blue Grey Cheeked, Vervet monkeys, Red Colobus monkeys to mention a few. Have early morning breakfast and connect to the park for chimpanzee trekking experience. Connect to the park headquarters with your trekking gears and water. Meet with other trekkers and gather for a briefing from the park officials where you will be guided on the expectations of Chimpanzee trekking. Thereafter, in only a group of 12 people and ranger guides/researchers, set off for Chimpanzee trekking. The search may take 2-5 hours depending on their location. The chimpanzees in Kibale are quite easier to find and you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them on finding them.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking experience
Early in the morning after breakfast, connect to the park headquarters for a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority officials then after allocation of gorilla families, set off for the gorilla tracking. This is a once life time experience and unforgettable adventure. The ranger guides will lead you into the thick forest and start your search for the endangered Mountain Gorillas. The activity can take 2 -7 hours since the gorillas move up and down and you will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about an hour. This is an awesome and exciting moment. En-route, there are other types of the primates such as the monkeys, birds and more. Return for dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 4: Transfer Back to Kampala (8-9 hours’ drive)

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale national park – Bigodi swamp walk
Depending on your location in Kampala/Entebbe, you will meet with Elephant Whispers representative with your safari driver guide and thereafter embark on your journey to Kabale national park. This park is Africa’s best primates’ destination with about 13 different primates’ species including the chimpanzees. The park is located in the western part of Uganda taking about 5-6 hours’ drive on the road with en-route stop in Fort portal town for your lunch. This drive is exciting with great views of the countryside and the people.
Connect to visit Bigodi swamp, the swamp has been recognised to host about 138 bird species and one can be able to see over 50 birds a day. Several primates can also be spotted in the wetland including the black and white Colobus monkeys, Blue Grey Cheeked, Ververt monkeys, Red Colobus monkeys to mention a few. Thereafter, transfer to your booked lodge for check-in, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Semiliki national park – night game drive
After your breakfast, connect to the park headquarters with your trekking gears and water. Meet with other trekkers and gather for a briefing from the park officials where you will be guided on the expectations of Chimpanzee trekking. Thereafter, in only a group of 12 people and ranger guides/researchers, set off for Chimpanzee trekking. The search may take 2-5 hours depending on their location. The chimpanzees in Kibale are quite easier to find and you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them on finding them. After trekking, meet your safari guide and transfer to Semiliki national park. It’s a 2-3 hours’ drive to connect to Toro-Semiliki wildlife reserve to check-in at your reserved lodge for relaxation.
Later in the evening after dinner, embark on a night game drive in the park. Semiliki national park is one of the best places for night game drives. This park is said to have about 53 animal species, some of the animals to find include; Bush babies, Elephants, Buffaloes, the pygmy scaly-tailed flying squirrel, African Civet o mention a few. Day 3: Sempaya hot-springs – transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After your breakfast, connect to Semiliki national park to visit Sempaya hot springs which are the main attractions of Semiliki national park. These hot springs are the largest in Uganda, divided into female and male however they both have a geyser that shoots up from 8 meters’ holes with a high temperature of up to 100 degrees Celsius. The strength and hotness of the springs are amazing as one can boil eggs and in few minutes, it is ready to eat. The community around the park also visit the springs to perform rituals basin on their beliefs.
After exploring the hot-springs, embark on your journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which is a 5-6 hours’ drive with en-route stop in Fort portal for lunch. Proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park. It’s a 3 hours’ drive from Fort portal town. Upon arrival, connect to relaxation, dinner at your booked accommodation. Overnight stay at;

Day 4: Lion tracking/game drive – Kazinga boat cruise
You will wake up early, have breakfast and connect your lion tracking experience. This experience offers visitors a more vivid opportunity to seeing the lions off-track the game drive trails. You will then connect for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi area for chances of finding animals like the Lions, leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, Antelopes, and Warthogs just to mention a few with en-route Katwa salt mines. Return at the lodge for lunch and wait for your afternoon activity.
Connect to the starting point of the boat cruise along Kazinga channel where you will get an opportunity to see a number of bird species, elephants and buffaloes, hippos and crocodiles at the lake shores. Queen Elizabeth national park has the largest number of hippo pools in East Africa. This will take about 2-3 hours before you return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 5: Return to Kampala/Entebbe – Departure
After breakfast, check-out of the lodge and embark on your journey back to Kampala/Entebbe with en-route lunch and stopovers to refresh. You will also stop at Uganda Equator for the equator experience. The driver will drop you off to a location being advised or proceed to Entebbe airport for your onward evening flight back home.
