5 days Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo National Park : Queen Elizabeth national park is the second largest wildlife national park located in the western part of Uganda in Rubirizi district near Kasese district. Queen Elizabeth national park has a massive biodiversity with landscape including bushland, savannah, wetland and lush vegetation. The park covers an area of 1,978 square kilometres and was first founded in 1952 as Kazinga national park however later after the visit of Queen Elizabeth 11; it was renamed Queen Elizabeth national park. The park inhabits about 95 mammal species including the big 4 game (Lions, Leopards, buffaloes, and Elephants), other animals including; hyenas, hippos, waterbucks, Oribi to mention a few and over 600 bird species. Queen Elizabeth national park is surrounded by 2 lakes including Lake Albert and Lake Edward which support water activities like boat cruises, and fishing activities.

Lak Mburo national park on the other hand is Uganda’s “Whispers of the Wild” with tranquil environment and home to the largest herd of Zebras amongst all Ugandan National Parks. It’s the only park in Uganda where we find the Impalas and where you can embark on a horseback safari – riding the horse while viewing wildlife. Other unique alternatives include mountain biking and walking Safari all besides the usual Game drive.

Detailed safari

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park (6-7 hours’ drive)

Depending on your location in Kampala/Entebbe, meet with a staff of Elephant Whispers Safaris for a briefing about your trip, he/she will introduce you to your safari guide to start your journey as early as 8 am to the western part of Uganda to Queen Elizabeth national park. This is the second largest national park which is a home the tree climbing lions. It’s a 6 hours’ journey with en-route stop at the Equator and lunch in Mbarara town which is the largest town in the western region. Arrive in the evening, en-route visit the twin crater lakes also called the love crater lakes before you proceed to check-in your lodge. Day 2: Game game drive in Kasenyi area and boat cruise along the Kazinga channel

On 2nd day of your 5 days Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo National Park, enjoy your breakfast then meet your safari guide for a game drive adventure in Kasenyi area. This area has a lot of animals to see including the savannah elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks and on a lucky day, you will stop the lions, leopards and hyenas. Retreat from the activity and return to your lodge for lunch.

Have en-route lunch in Mweya peninsular then proceed for a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel where you will get an opportunity to see a number of bird species, elephants and buffaloes, hippos and crocodiles at the lake shores. Return to your accommodation as of the previous day. All meals provided on full board

Day 3: Primates tracking in Kyambura gorge – transfer to Lake mburo national park

After breakfast at the lodge, depart to Kyambura gorge also part of Queen Elizabeth national park. It has a variety of primates and animals take hid in the gorge. This will take 4-5 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees. Have an hour in the presence of the primates before you return. 

After trekking, embark on your journey to Lake Mburo national park. It’s a 4-5 hours’ drive with en-route lunch. Arrive lake Mburo lake afternoon and proceed to your lodge with en-route wildlife views of animals like the Uganda Kobs, Oribi, Zebras to mention a few. Check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Eagles Nest Lodge for budget/Rwakobo lodge for mid-range/Mihingo lodge for luxury

Day 4: Day game drive and boat trip – Lake Mburo national park

On the 4th day of your 5 days Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo National Park, breakfast will be served early, then connect for a game drive exploring the park wildlife for animals like the Zebras, Impalas, Giraffes, Elephants and other different antelope species, on a good day you may be able to spot the lions and leopards (not guaranteed). 

Retreat from the game drive and connect back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, take a boat trip on Lake Mburo for water animals like the crocodiles and hippos not forgetting the water birds. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge as above

Day 5: Transfer back to Entebbe (6-7 hours’ drive) – departure

On this last day of your trip with Elephant Whispers safaris, enjoy your breakfast then depart the lodge to return to Kampala/Entebbe depending on where you will advise. Lunch will be served in Masaka town, stop at the equator for pictures. Drop off either at your own booked lodge or at the airport for your onward flight. End of Safari
