Isunga Lodge is a relaxed, owner-managed lodge in a unique setting overlooking the green expanse of Kibale Forest in Western Uganda with magnificent views of this beautiful rainforest, the huge peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains and onwards to Lake George and the savannahs of Queen Elizabeth – we can see 3 national parks all at once.
Isunga Lodge boasts a unique position beside the rainforest and also in the midst of the crater lake area, making it the perfect base for exploration of this wonderful region. Get close to nature, enjoy the great outdoors, meet the community or just slow down and relax in this restorative location.
With just eight simple, stylish cottages spread around our large grounds we offer privacy and serenity, in a natural wild garden setting. You may feel like you are the only ones around. Owners Gerry and Karen are always on hand to help, advise on activities, travel and more, we offer a friendly, personal touch and very warm welcome to our guests.
Cottages
They have 8 tranquil cottages provide comfortable, quality accommodation at affordable rates. Enjoy the lovely views of Kibale Forest from your private terrace surrounded by nature and see how many beautiful birds you can spot. All cottages have charging facilities, mosquito nets, flush toilets and hot showers. Our family cottage sleeps 4, with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and sitting room.
Please note that their cottages are spread over a hillside which means some walking up and down hill, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

Panoramic views from our restaurant and lounge make this the perfect place to relax, read, enjoy a drink or just catch up with friends.
Food at Isunga lodge is loveable and are lucky to have access to a wonderful range of ingredients sourced from the local markets, together with fresh organic herbs and vegetables from our own garden.
They usually have set menus for lunch and dinner, and flexibility is no problem – we are happy to cater for any special dietary requests. Lunch is 2 courses, with a main and dessert, while light sandwich lunches with fresh homemade bread are also available, as are salads from our garden. Dinner is a 3 course meal, with starter, main and dessert. If you would like to try some local food, just ask and our chefs can prepare this for you.
Their breakfasts offer something for all tastes. Fresh fruits, juice, cereals, homemade granola and yoghurt make up the buffet while eggs, pancakes or a full cooked breakfast are made to order.
Free tea, coffee and purified drinking water can be found in the restaurant throughout the day.
On sunny days cool off in our refreshing splash pool with its lovely views over the forest.
Free wifi is available in the restaurant and lounge but as we are in a very rural position right beside the rainforest, please be aware it’s not always super-fast.
Join us for a sundowner watching the sunset over the Rwenzori Mountain ranges then sit by the campfire under the stars, share stories of your day with fellow travellers and listen for the sounds of elephants and chimpanzees from the forest below.
