Rwakobo Rock

Rwakobo Rock is an eco-friendly mid-range lodge situated just over 1Km from the Nshara Gate of Lake Mburo National Park. Rwakobo Rock is nestled on a scenic outcrop with breath-taking views of animals such as zebra, warthog, impala and bushbuck abound around the lodge and often congregate at the water hole beneath the dining area. At night the sounds of bush come to life and allow your imagination to run wild. This idyllic spot is Day or night excursions into the park are very worthwhile. The drive from the main road passes through the lovely Nshara government ranch, where the magnificent Ankole cattle graze peacefully alongside herds of Zebra. The Bahima pastoralists of the area, still live traditional lives and are excellent custodians of the natural landscape and its biodiversity. Rwakobo offers a variety of both easy and challenging walks offering the chance to get close to nature. Rwakobo also offers mountain biking and caters for night drives, while the park can be discovered by vehicle, foot or boat.

The lodge is set on a massive granite outcrop, just beside Lake Mburo National Park, Rwakobo offers private thatched cottages, with solar lighting, flush toilets and solar heated showers, which blend into the natural landscape.

Rwakobo Rock is a peaceful and secluded retreat where you can breathe in the essence of wild Uganda with comfortable and spacious cottages are dotted around the hill, all very private and offering great sunset views. They also have self-contained rooms available in the Hornbill House. This beautiful thatch building has 5 bedrooms each with their own en-suite and veranda. Hornbill House’s rooms are $85 per person with full board (based on two people sharing). For more of a bush experience, they have en-suite safari tents at $85 per person, based on 2 people sharing. The cottages are dotted around the hill taking advantage of rocky ledges and secluded corners. The cottages celebrate the natural lines of the surrounding wilderness. They also provide guests with real comfort and luxury that doesn’t cost the earth. The full board rate is $130 per person (based on two people sharing).

 

At the very heart of Rwakobo Rock is the owners’ dedication to supporting and preserving the surrounding pristine wilderness of the Lake Mburo ecosystem. With this in mind, environmentally-friendly technologies such as rain water catchment, solar power, solar water heaters and solar refrigeration are all used to ensure responsible tourism.

The view from the restaurant at Rwakobo Rock is nestled on a scenic outcrop at the edge of Lake Mburo National Park with the main dining area overlooks an expanse of rock that adjoins the park. The lodge has a well-stocked bar provides a range of cold Ugandan beers and soft drinks as well as wine and spirits. Hot drinks for those rainy afternoons can also be requested from the bar. So please feel free to ask. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the main lodge, from set menus to a buffet style dinner, there is always something for everyone. If you are leaving us early in the morning we try our best to make sure you don’t leave us on an empty stomach, we can prepare an early breakfast or send you on your way with a packed lunch.

The lodge is set in the pristine Ankole ranch lands surrounding Lake Mburo National Park; whether you want to sit back, sip on an ice-cold drink in a hammock or head out into Lake Mburo National Park for a day of exciting exploration, there is something for everyone here. Every night (weather permitting) the friendly Rwakobo staff stoke up a camp fire so you can watch the sunset explode into a brilliant starlit sky.
